Connecting Iowa hospitals with established international redistribution organizations to recover any medical surplus — instruments, supplies, equipment, anything unused or retired — for developing countries.
Heartland Lift operates a medical surplus recovery program that collects any unused or retired medical surplus — instruments, supplies, and equipment — from Iowa hospitals and redistributes them to underserved medical facilities internationally. Donated items are accepted on an as-is basis and listed in a publicly available inventory. Partner organizations may request items directly from that inventory. All donations and transfers are governed by formal agreements available for download below.

Donated items are reviewed upon receipt and catalogued by type and condition.
Accepted items are listed in our publicly available inventory with condition notes.
Established redistribution organizations browse the inventory and submit requests for items they need.
Items are transferred to partner organizations who handle final distribution to underserved facilities internationally.
All donated items are stored in a climate-controlled facility and tracked through a digital inventory maintained by Heartland Lift.
